11. Cherries Stuffed With Secret Walnuts, For Your Sensitive Dental Work
My ex husband’s aunt made a black cherry jello with cherries inside. I didn’t realize her secret twist was to pit the cherries and replace with walnuts. The first time I bit into one, I thought I shattered my molars. No one warned me. They thought it was normal, a thing.

16. “Cranberry Crap”
“Cranberry Crap,” and I don’t make it anymore because I researched the ingredients in Cool Whip, but canned cranberry sauce, walnuts, pineapple, and Cool Whip. It’s a pink cloud of hydrogenated heart attack sitting between (but not touching) the green beans and stuffing.

17. Cranberry Jello With Mayonnaise
Closer to the congealed salad vibe: my mother, for years, served a cranberry jello with fruit inside. It was served on a bed of iceberg lettuce, and topped with a generous dollop of mayonnaise.
