Tough time for couples right now out there! Lots of people fighting about petty things while trapped in an apartment. This story seems to be about a couple that was already having problems because one of the members in it is a creep. A Redditor posted their story to r/AmITheA—hole under the name u/nootomanysquid. While they don’t specify their gender…I suspect they are a man.
Usually, it’s helpful to condense and summarize, but this whole thing really needs to be read to be believed:
So my wife dyed her hair today. While I normally like dyed hair on other people, I have a hard time enjoying it on her. For some reason I just really don’t like that she had tattoos and that she dyed her hair.
The thought of it makes me visibly upset. She already told me she won’t get any more tattoos, but near the start of our marriage I told her that I didn’t like her with dyed hair.
She likes it though and now that she is allowed to have it dyed at work she went ahead and asked what color she should get. I told her that I didn’t want her to, because I didn’t like her with dyed hair. She got upset and wanted me to be supportive so I helped her choose a color. She dyed her hair and i guess it looks alright, but I can’t help but get this bad feeling in my gut and my head when I see it.
I just don’t like it. I don’t like seeing it. I want her to look like her. She wants to be able to do things she likes. I want that too, and I want her to be happy, but I just really don’t want her to have dyed hair. I don’t want her to have tattoos either but that’s not much of an option now.
There’s not really any question there? Even the title is just, “AITA my wife dyed her hair,” no question mark. Maybe this person was just hoping that he wasn’t an a**hole for wanting to erase their wife’s tattoos or control how their hair looks, and if they shared their story everybody would jump in and reassure them.
That’s not what happened. Everyone called this guy the biggest a**hole on the planet (and then some) in the comments:
The post made its way to Twitter, too, and the guy got similarly raked over the coals there:

“I want her to look like her.”
If she’s presenting herself in the way she wants to, she *does* look like her. Jackäss.
Also imagine hating someone’s tattoos and then constantly whining about it. I hope she divorces him.

It’s called object permanence. The ability to understand that something is still the same even if it looks different is developed in toddlerhood. It’s an important stage of intellectual development that everyone typically masters by the time they’re 4 or 5. Except this guy.

The problem with all of these posts is that even when the person is universally ruled to be in the wrong, you gotta wonder what’s going on at home. Will this wife with tattoos and awesome hair realize their partner is a big a-hole? I hope so, because she sounds like she’s hot enough to do way better. Tattoos are sexy!
