Twitter Mocks “Target Jennifer” For Attempting To Stop Looters At Target In Minneapolis

The past week, protests have broken out in Minneapolis over the murder of George Floyd, a black man who was killed by a police officer kneeling on his neck as he told him he couldn’t breathe. Protestors were sprayed by police officers with tear gas, fired on by flash bomb grenades, and shot with rubber bullets.

Anger over these attacks and Floyd’s death boiled over, and riots broke out across the city. The Washington Post reports that there have been a number of fires, and people breaking into a Target has been widely filmed and reported.

Amongst the many videos of the scene, a particularly crazy one involves a woman who has been dubbed Target Jennifer. It seems her name actually is Jennifer, according to Know Your Meme.

The first video shows a white woman in a wheelchair attempting to stop black protestors coming and out of the building. She doesn’t seem to work for Target, but even if she did, she’s not allowed to stab people to keep them from stealing. She is sprayed in the face by fire extinguishers:

In itself, this is an extraordinary series of events, but it gets wilder. Jennifer got away, unstabbed, and claimed on camera that she was peacefully protesting, not going at any black people she saw with a knife:

There is also a video in which she gets out of her wheelchair and walks:

Not everyone who uses a wheelchair needs it 100 percent of the time because mobility issues manifest in all sorts of ways. But it’s still pretty amazing to see her present herself as a vulnerable victim when there is evidence that she is both violent and capable.

There are also people alleging she is actually in her 30s and not an elderly woman, though her age has not been confirmed.

It does seem like in some angles, people on every side were trying to help her when it appeared she was vulnerable and distressed. And then she got the knife out. Don’t trust these Karens and Jennifers.
