Fallen Umbrella Locks Company Out Of WeWork Office And No One Can Figure Out How To Get In

WeWork can be a pretty cool place to, well, work. They offer free coffee, tea, and some pretty delicious fruit-infused water all day, the internet speed is pretty impressive, and if you’re a company with multiple employees, you can even rent a full office.

However, not all is sunny in the land of shared workspace, as Twitter user and cryptocurrency writer Neeraj K. Agrawal claimed his friend’s coworkers were locked out of their office and couldn’t get back in, all thanks to a fallen umbrella which was blocking the sliding glass door from opening.

“My friend’s entire company is locked out of their WeWork office because an umbrella fell, jamming the door,” he wrote. “No one can figure it out. It’s been like this for 2 days.”

He followed up by insisting that there was nothing important inside the room and that since “computers are portable,” everyone just moved to another office.

As for how they plan on getting back in, Agrawal said they had no plans to break the glass and that they’d already attempted to use wires to push through the gaps in an attempt to lift the umbrella, to no avail.

The plight of Agrawal’s friend’s company went viral on the social media network, with the tweet garnering over 51.2k likes and 8.9k retweets. He also received many comments from skeptical users who believed that Agrawal’s tweet was nothing more than a thinly veiled advertisement for WeWork and that this is not a real problem—an accusation he snarkily replied to in lieu of an outright denial.

Whether or not this is a real illustration of the general ineptitude of tech bros or indeed a strangely creative promotion for WeWork remains to be seen, and Agrawal gave no indication of what if any plan of action his friend’s company planned to follow to resolve the issue. Presumably, if they already moved to another office, they don’t consider it to be their problem anymore. Someone fix it, it’s driving me crazy!

UPDATE: It seems WeWork has stepped in to attempt to solve this situation. They have a whole new approach that none of the online commenters even considered.
