College Students Are Sharing The Wack “Fyre Festival” Meals They’ve Been Served

Ever since the coronavirus pandemic kicked off in the spring it’s been six months of uncertainty and anxiety that affect every aspect of people’s daily lives. Though it’s nearly September it remains an open question whether schools will be opening normally in the fall or in some altered/remote-learning capacity.

This is true for universities as well and though many plan to open for their fall semesters as planned they are requiring students to quarantine in the lead-up. And since part of quarantining effectively is, of course, not going out to buy food or mingle in a crowded dining hall, these schools are in some cases supplying their students with meals.

Whether that food has earned the right be called a “meal” is up for debate however after complaints from students at New York University and elsewhere, who say the quarantine meals their school has provided them with range from disappointing to pathetic.

Gen-Z college kids shared their concerns on TikTok.

While vegans were receiving non-vegan food, this non-vegan NYU student received a vegan meal that turned out to be basically just a granola bar.

For dinner she was given another granola bar….and a lemon?

All in all she rated her breakfast consisting of a rock-hard muffin, apple, and some cheerios her “most fulfilling meal.”

This is where one might point out that the annual cost of attending NYU is an eye-watering $74,000.

Frankly, for that kind of dough you should be able to take a horse-drawn carriage to class and have a dorm butler on every floor. Instead, students report receiving what appear to be random prepacked food objects taken from a vending machine and thrown haphazardly into a box…that may or may not be vegan.

The issue of severely unimpressive quarantine foodstuffs isn’t limited to NYU however, with students at the University of Georgia taking to TikTok to do some meal-shaming of their own.

One student posted a TikTok showing that her “$2,000 meal plan” entitled her to a Ziploc bag of lettuce among other highlights.

While it may seem like these students are being horribly ripped off during a difficult time at least they’re learning some lessons about life giving them literal lemons.
