People mostly watch TV and films to escape reality, which is why it’s such a bummer when we’re taken out of the fantasy by a small, petty, overlooked detail. It’s usually something that the director or writers have done to make the story move more smoothly, but which feels so wrong, you can’t even appreciate that story anymore.
Twitter user @m4ttso asked their followers, “What, if anything, can ruin a tv show/film for you? Mine is actors unrealistically drinking hot drinks.”
Ooh, yeah, that’s a good one (looking at you, Gilmore Girls).

The thread is kind of old, but it’s recently started circulating again, maybe because production companies haven’t received our complaints yet? Despite how unrealistic it may appear, most auteurs don’t want to write an extended scene where the hero can’t find parking for authenticity’s sake.
I guess we just have to accept that some things belong in the real world and not in the movies, then go home and try to forget about the parking situation by binging Netflix.
